Property Repair Systems offers you safe Boron based treatments. Call 01626 872886 for free help from our Qualified experts who have over 30 years experience each and can diagnose woodworm properly to avoid wasted re-treatment.

Our treatments are safe and solvent free, pleasant to use and leave no stains or colour. They have no smell, so no odours are left behind in your property (unlike many other combination types, which combine chemicals based on Permethrin and Cypermethrin, in 'micro emulsions' to cover rot and insect treatment). Multi purpose combined products are not necessary - Boron provides Dry rot, Wet rot, Mold and Woodworm protection.

SAFETY MATTERS

Rio Tinto Borax Boron D.O.T. based products versus the alternatives - Permethrin and Cypermethrin based products:

1. True Borax Insecticide and Fungicide

Rio Tinto Borax manufacture many chemicals based on the Element Boron, but only one is deemed suitable and thus Licensed in the UK and Europe for use as an insecticide and fungicide - D.O.T. These letters stand for its chemical name - Disodium Octaborate Tetrahydrate - also know internationally as Polybor and Timbor.

If someone offers you a much cheaper product it is probably NOT genuine D.O.T. or it has been diluted with other chemicals.

The most likely substitute at low cost is called Disodium Tetraborate Decahydrate - legitimately used as a component of Soap!

So, accept no substitutes for 100% Disodium Octaborate Tetrahydrate - available in our Boracol 10 products.

2. Toxin free 100% Borax

Rio Tinto Borax supply Boric Acid as a pure white powder.

If someone offers you other cheaper products they are most likely to contain Permethrin or Cypermethrin - check the label.

Permethrin and Cypermethrin are brain toxins and highly toxic, especially to cats and fish. They kill all insects - good and bad. Boracol 10 does not.

So, accept no substitutes for 100% Disodium Octaborate Tetrahydrate - available in our Boracol 10 products.

3. Natural dry rot cure

Boron Ultra 12 is made from Disodium Octaborate Tetrahydrate, which in turn is refined from naturally occurring Rasorite and the mineral Tincal.

If someone offers you other types of treatment they are most likely to contain man made Permethrin or Cypermethrin - check the label.

Permethrin and Cypermethrin are synthetic Pyrethrums and highly toxic - especially to cats and fish. They kill all insects - good and bad. Boracol 10 does not.

4. Water based, solvent free

Boron Ultra 12 is made from Disodium Octaborate Tetrahydrate, which naturally dissolves in water.

Other types of woodworm treatment usually contain man made Permethrin or Cypermethrin - they do not dissolve in water, so require 'emulsions' and 'micro emulsions' in order to be used as water based woodworm treatments. These emulsifiers are additional chemicals that can create unpleasant odours and have surprising side effects.

For example, if you apply a fungicide or insecticide that uses a 'micro emulsion' in its formulation to modern roofing lining fabrics the material will lose its water repellence, allowing snow and rain to penetrate.

These additional chemicals can also affect carpets and underlay - Boracol 10 in water does not. You can re-lay as soon as the surfaces are dry.

So, accept no substitutes for 100% natural Disodium Octaborate Tetrahydrate without micro emulsion - available in our Boracol 10 products.

5. Kind to carpets and pets

Boron Ultra 12 is made from Disodium Octaborate Tetrahydrate, which has no effect on carpets, underlay or cushion floor.

Boron Ultra 12 gives off no vapour, so is safe for animals as soon as it is dry.

Not so with woodworm treatments which contain man made Permethrin or Cypermethrin - they give off a vapour, both from the active ingredient and the emulsifiers.

Such chemicals are highly toxic to some animals, particularly cats.

6. Lasts a lifetime

Boracol B10 os made from Boric Acid dissolved in water and once dried into timbers indoors lasts indefinitely. Only prolonged immersion in water can remove it.

Boracol B10 gives off no vapour, so it simply stays where you want it - in the wood.

Not so with combination rot and woodworm treatments which contain man made Permethrin or Cypermethrin - they give off a vapour, both from the active ingredient and the emulsifiers.

So they gradually disappear from the wood, with the vapour being present in your building until the chemical has all gone.

So, accept no substitutes for pure Boric Acid without micro emulsion - available in our Boracol 10 product.

7. Natural fire retardant

Many compounds of Boron are naturally capable of preventing the spread of fire. If you take an ordinary piece of paper, soak it in a 10% solution of Boracol 10 , allow it to dry fully and then try to light it you will find it impossible to maintain a flame. It simply extinguishes itself. This natural feature is a great benefit when treating wood for woodworm or rot, particularly in roof spaces and thatched roofs. Borates are natural fire retardants.
